Sega Announces the Official Video Game of the Beijing Olympics
Sega Corporation, a multinational Japanese video game software and hardware development company, with partnership with International Sports Multimedia an exclusive licensee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has just revealed the plans to develop Beijing 2008 – the official video game of the 2008 Olympic Games.
The game is targeted towards 3rd generation platforms such as the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, and for the PC and is being developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software.
What’s hot about this game is its online capabilities that allows players – and fans of the Olympics – to compete against other players from other nations, just like what’s happening in the Olympics.
Although it’s still under development, Beijing 2008 is said to simulate 35 events from the upcoming 2008 Games and will allow gamers to experience the thrill of competing in many of the official venues ranging from the famous Beijing National Stadium to the National Aquatics Centre.
Beijing 2008 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC is set for release in the summer of 2008.
Beijing 2008 – The Official Mobile Phone Game of the Olympic Games is also in the works and will be available summer 2008.

Its interesting that Sega are working on another Olympics game just after Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games came out. I guess it explains why the game was released so far away from the actual time of the olympic games; to make way for the “official” game.
