Play Crysis on Your PS3!

Ever wanted to play Crysis on your PS3? That is still a dream to many gamers, but StreamMyGame aims to make that a reality… through other means, though. The company has released a free Linux player, an application that lets gamers play any PC game via a PS3 running Linux. Practically, this works on any Linux-powered PC, though the PS3 has been cited as a major example.

The software converts the game’s video and audio into a game stream in real-time and sends it over a network to a second computer where one can view and play the game. The second computer/device does not need to install the game, but only needs to have the streaming software installed. The software is compatible with Ubuntu and Yellow Dog Linux and follows OpenGL standards.

Quite interestingly, the software can be used over broadband networks that have sufficient capacity such as Verizon’s FiOS, Comcast’s Wideband and BT’s FTTP starting March. At the moment they are offering a gimped free version and a premium version that allows streaming at HD resolutions.
