Sonic RPG Detailed In Nintendo Power

January 15th, 2008 Posted in News

I’ve just received the newest issue of Nintendo Power in the mail, and held between its covers is some interesting and worthwhile information about upcoming Sonic RPG for the Nintendo DS. In fact, it’s a pretty hefty 7 page article, so if you are at all interested in the title, you might want to go pick up a copy of the newest Nintendo Power to find out more.

I’ll run down some of the more interesting facts included. First of all, you party can be up to four players, out of a possible 11. Nintendo Power reveals 7 of which: Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow, Big the Cat. Everything is controlled via the stylus on screen, which by the way, everything is all hand drawn, so it has a really cool feel to it. Enemies can be spotted onscreen, so it is not random battles, and within turn based battles there are special attacks as well as ones that allow you to separate into teams.

The game also appears to take part in two portions, one of which will be in Sonic’s world and the second in a “darker” world. Bioware’s Sonic RPG does seem pretty promising, and may just be what the franchise needs to pull it out of the gutters it currently occupies. We’ll pass along more information as we learn it, but truly this is shaping up to be one of the must have DS titles on the horizon.
