The world is left without yet-another MMO, due to publisher NCSoft cancelling the project. Spacetime Studios was working on Blackstar, a space-action MMO, which would allow players to fly spaceships to “exotic locations” and then dock their avatars for traditional RPG play. The company has laid off 12 employees from its staff in an effort to stay in business.
However, despite the cancellation the company is on good terms with its ex-publisher. “We want to stress that there are no bad feelings with NCSoft,” reads a post by the company on its website. “There is a tremendous amount of mutual respect between our companies. They have conducted themselves with honor and integrity, and we would work with them again in an instant.”
Although the project was cancelled, the assets remain and Spacetime is looking for funding to continue work.
