Maybe it’s a bit more likely that games Famitsu rates higher have a large following because, oh, I don’t know, they’re actually GOOD games? As far as Japan being guilty of a ‘keep everyone happy, don’t rock the boat’ mentality, I think that persists pretty much everywhere, especially here in the USA.

I can believe that, and if they gave it a one out of ten, meh. I KNOW the game is going to be amazing. It only makes sense if you have followed the series since last decade. I have already crowned it the best fighting game anyway, and I bet you there are at least 8 million people who will agree with me before year’s end.

Apparently Fumitsu rate games base on the public following for a game, they give high scores to games which have a large following. That’s just Japan style though, don’t rock the boat, keep everyone happy.
