Third Party Wii Games Not Selling In Japan

January 16th, 2008 Posted in Business, News, Wii

wiiDespite the game getting generally good reviews, No More Heroes from Suda 51 hasn’t sold well in Japan. In fact the only games that sell well in Nintendo’s homeland are games created by Nintendo itself. Sadly this can’t be attributed to the rumored bias amongst Japanese gamers against products from non-Japanese companies. Third party titles aren’t selling well anywhere else either according to Suda 51. Given the incredible amounts of shovelware and poorly made titles, it’s no surprise that gamers are avoiding non-Nintendo games. This of course raises a question: will quality developers be scared off by the low sales numbers due to worries about unprofitable titles?
