JoWood Confirms Sam And Max For The Wii

January 17th, 2008 Posted in News, Wii

JoWood has put out a press release talking about their upcoming adventure releases, and how they will be partaking in bringing Sam and Max to the Wii. After being one of the more successful episodic content setups, mostly because it is release often, Sam and Max has gathered a cult following already amongst PC owners. Back in September 2006, Tell Tale games discussed their desire to bring the material over, but it seems like the Wii will be getting Sam and Max in addition to the PC.

The game would obvious follow the same play mechanics, introducing just another adventure title to the Wii collection, which may be sparse, but is actually continually growing. With the critical (although not yet financial) success of Zack and Wiki, one can only hope that developers start realizing there is a market for adventure games. Or at least they can create one. I would certainly prefer developers sink some time into a proper adventure title, than stick us with another minigame or body training fest.

Here’s a rough translation from the German press release by Google:

JoWooD plans further its successful licenses from the Adventure Games for Nintendo ® Wii ™ to adapt. One of the next projects: As Sam & Max adventure of the year, chosen by the readers of the German computer game magazine “PC Games” (2 2008), Sam & Max will soon also for Nintendo ® Wii ™ to hunt criminals.

I said it was rough!

I’m a fan of the old point and click adventure games like Monkey Island but I never actually play’d much of the Sam and Max titles. I might pick this up when it gets released.
