Crysis PS3 Rumor Lives Again

January 19th, 2008 Posted in Featured, News, PlayStation 3, Rumor

This has been going on for roughly 2 years, the eternal debate about whether Crysis would be making its way onto consoles, or remaining a PC exclusive. It’s pretty obvious that Crytek does not want to bring their game to the consoles. However, one thing is now certain, with the extremely poor sales of Crysis on the PC, Crytek, whether they wanted to or not, are going to be forced to consider porting the game to at least spin some sort of profit. Apparently, as we mentioned a few weeks ago, a 360 version of Crysis is not in the cards, and is apparently for technical reasons. I find that answer a little lacking, as surely a solution could be created to make the game playable.

However, a PS3 version is rumored to still be in the works, even receiving a few upgrades and improvements from the original. It seems pretty likely that Crytek would make a move such as this, but despite their poor excuse for not porting to the 360 as well, I can’t help but wonder if a PS3 port will even make much of a financial difference. Unreal Tournament 3 did not move many units on the PS3, despite being a timed exclusive, so if it is purely money they are after, a PS3 exclusive may not be the answer.
