Japan Gets First Wii Demo Kiosks
January 25th, 2008 by Brian Lockhart in News, Wii
It’s a little hard to believe, but the only way Japanese gamers can try out a Wii is by purchasing one themselves, or finding a friend who has one. Thus far, Nintendo has not release any sort of Wii demo kiosk in Japan, but all of that will change tomorrow when they will role out kiosks to 30 retailers across Japan. Even more interesting news is that these demo units will showcase off a playable version of Smash Bros.
It’ll be rather interesting to see just what form these demos will take place, but with Smash Bros. still off being released in Japan, we might catch a few interesting tid-bits of information, but way of these demo stations.
The primary reason Nintendo has resisted release demo units is due to the waggle nightmares for retailers, it also requires a heavy amount of monitoring to make sure no one runs off with a controller in tow. With Smash Bros. not requiring waggle for play, expect some controllers safely locked in with the unit, where no one can use it for damaging mayhem.
