It seems that the worlds been getting a bit tired of with Unreal Engine 3 on consoles lately. It doesn’t help that PC gamers have Crysis. If only the CryEngine 2 ran on consoles… Oh wait, it does! The Crytek team will be demonstrating their engine running on consoles, namely the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, on February 18th, less than three weeks, at the Game Developer’s Conference. Naturally, this only adds fuel to the Crysis on PS3 rumor.
Crytek GmbH will demonstrate their multi award winning CryENGINE® 2 game development middleware and their Sandbox 2TM game editor again at this year’s Game Developer Conference on February 18 - 22 in San Francisco. First publicly shown at last year’s conference, and recently released as the technology underlying their critically acclaimed PC game, Crysis, this year’s engine will be shown for the first time running on multiple hardware platforms such as the PS3 and Xbox 360, to a select audience.
The team will then continue to show off by creating a budget computer for less than $600 which will be capable of effectively running Crysis. While, as you can see, they do say that the $600 includes the mouse and keyboard, they do not mention the monitor. Maybe they had to use it for parts for their computer.

Visitors will be able to see for themselves the extremely high quality that can be achieved on relatively inexpensive consumer hardware today using the CryENGINE® 2.
