In my morning routine of checking the two dozen webcomics I read I came across some juicy tidbits in a VGcats post. Included was a link a quite lovely array of screenshots from the Japanese version of Smash Bros. Brawl that confirm some previously unannounced characters. These aren’t just character select screens, as those can easily be faked (and have been). Some of the shots are from loading screens, video clips and in-game action. Luigi will of course be returning, as will Falco, Captain Falcon, Ness, Ganondorf and the enigmatically silhoutted Game & Watch. There’s also a sword-wielding character who might be one of the previous Fire Emblem characters who were featured in Smash Bros. games. The only two unannounced characters truly confirmed by the screenshots are Lucario (a pokemon but not attached to the Pokemon Trainer character) and Robot, a digital version of the rather strange peripheral for the NES many might recall. There’s a possibility of a Dark Samus as there’s a screenshot of a loading screen that shows Zero Suit Samus and Pikachu facing off against two Dark Samuses, but they might simply be a re-colored version of the regular character featured in the single player mode. If these screenshots are fake they would constitute and incredible level of skill and quite a big time expenditure for an elaborate hoax.
