We’ve all read those record breaking subscriber numbers for World of Warcraft, but have you ever stopped to wonder just how much moolah it brings in for Blizzard? Over a billion dollars in revenue, according to a Vivendi financial statement. The weather-named developer posts revenues of $1.28 billion last year, up 58 percent from 2006.
In comparison, other Vivendi subsidiaries brought in a total of $301 million in revenue. Blizzard’s contribution is attributed to the first quarter release of The Burning Crusade, an expansion for the popular MMORPG.
