GameTap announces that they are ending support for Myst Online: Uru Live, the MMOG based on the Myst franchise that the company itself revived in May 2006. The decision was made due to business reasons, as per their note, and Cyan Worlds and Rand Miller, the developers, are still on good terms with GameTap.
The note also states that while the game will be completely shut down in the near future, the game servers will remain live for the next two months, during which time both newcomers and existing players can continue to explore the world of Myst Online. After 60 days, the title will be removed from GameTap’s service, though its official website will remain live and active for fans.
