Age Of Conan Censorship Details

Hallmarks of the Conan series have always been endless amounts of violence and gore along with a healthy splashing of nudity. The muscle-bound Cimmerian is something of a Hyperborean James Bond. In addition to hacking his way through hordes of men, monsters and the occasional sorceror, Conan usually ended up sleeping with one or two women, whether temple priestesses, feisty bar wenches or pirate queens. The covers of the novels often featured elaborate illustrations with one or more women often clad solely in metal thongs and pasties. The upcoming Age Of Conan MMO is going to feature these aspects as well. Combat will feature decapitations, limbs being severed and other realistic effects. Some of the characters (presumably just the females of course) will also be naked. Some countries’ ratings boards have objected of course, so in certain countries and territories the game will be censored. In Germany the game will be very stripped down, with the dismemberment, decapitations and “over the top fatalities” removed. Elsewhere in Europe gamers will be able to play the full, unedited version of the game. The United States will of course have a degree of censorship, but only the full frontal nudity will be removed. There will still be nipples viewable however, and the gore will be included in its totality.
