Mario Kart Details
We’re still waiting on Smash Bros. Brawl outside of Japan, but Nipponese gamers are already turning their thoughts to one of the next big games for the Wii: Mario Kart. A classic franchise since the original for the Super Nintendo, this odd racing game is showing some real promise. Famitsu got a scoop on the game and they’ve revealed thirty-two courses, with sixteen new tracks and the rest being remakes of old courses. The new courses are called Mario Circuit, Momo Country, Kinopio Factory, DK Snowboard Cross, Coconuts Mall, Kinoko Canyon, and Luigi Circuit. A new feature which will most likely utilize some fancy motion controlling is mid-air tricks. Go off a jump and if you perform a mid-air maneuver correctly, you’ll get a burst of speed when you hit the ground. Mario Kart Wii will of course be taking the franchise online. You’ll be able to race against friends and strangers from across the globe with up to 12 players racing at once. It seems that you’ll also be able to download a Mario Kart Wii Channel so you can check out your current rankings and world records right from the Wii desktop. You’ll also be able to download ‘ghost data’ which will allow you to pit your times against the best the game has to offer. In addition to using the existing characters you can use your Miis for online play. Of course the game will feature the traditional split-screen 4 player races.
