Developer Firaxis, speaking on the recently cancelled Wii edition of Civilization Revolution, the first title in the series to be made for consoles, explained that the title was ditched due to issues with controller mapping and assets. Programmer Scott Lewis said that the Wii version of the game required a complete overhaul of the game’s interface and art assets needed to be created from the ground up.
They also had trouble mapping commands to the Wii’s motion sensitive controllers as the version came in very late and that audiences wouldn’t be satisfied. However, the Wii version wasn’t fully cancelled: “If the 360/PS3/DS versions do well, obviously a Wii version will be more likely,” he noted.

1Whats wrong with building from the ground up? Ports with modifications just so that it can run on a different hardware lessen the gameplay value. Put the effort in!
