One of the major advantages of console gaming is that it’s far more difficult to cheat. Aimbots, map hacks and various other tools of cheap victory are very easy to find via the internet. Popular PC FPS Crysis has apparently had enough of a problem with online cheating that in the next patch update, some anti-cheating measures that can run concurrently with popular anti-cheating program Punkbuster. Also included in the next patch will be the Crysis Mod Loader, which will enable gamers to easily load in mods they’ve either created themselves or downloaded from the internet via a new “Mods” option the game’s main menu. Although mods for PC games are almost as old as PC gaming itself, it’s nice to see that most companies these days are recognizing the modding community and implementing these measures to ensure that those of us who aren’t so computer savvy don’t need a six page manual to get some more fun out of our games.
