Gears of War 2 Revelation Rubbished by Epic

Seems like Gamepro may be lying to their readers: the magazine’s recently unveiled March issue features a mock-up of a Gears of War 2 logo under the heading ‘Xbox 360 Special Report’. As one might presume, it may reveal the existence of the second game in the series, but that hope has been dashed by Epic’s Mark Rein, who has labeled the article as “pure nonsense”.

Writing in a forum post, he mentioned that “We [the studio] have not announced a sequel to Gears of War to GamePro or anyone else for that matter.” As expected, he doesn’t write any more on the topic.

Gears of War, released for PC and Xbox 360, has garnered much critical acclaim and has sold millions of copies, thus ensuring a sequel that just might be in the making.
