Rare Scribes Reveals New Banjo Information

It has been a pretty decent week for information on Banjo Kazooie 3. We know it may actually be releasing this year, in the holiday season, and now we even know a bit on what the game is potentially about. The Rare Scribes is a question and answer thing that Rare puts out, with e-mailed questions, which they actually do a decent job of answering, and pick some burning questions at that. This particular question concerned the format of upcoming Banjo 3. Would it be a platformer, would it contain multiplayer? Surprisingly, the answers to those questions are Not really and Yes.
“Banjo won’t be a shooter (unless we sell no copies like Ghoulies and out of desperation give him a gun for the next game) but it also won’t be a traditional platformer,” teases the head of the team. “We somewhat grandly like to think that it will be a different take on the genre. Some would say a brave gamble but I’m confident it’s the right decision, and when people see it I’m sure they will say ‘although the old games are clearly brilliant, this new one is even better. So good in fact that I am going to sell all my worldly possessions and give the money to the Banjo team’.”
“We aren’t in the business of crushing little boys’ dreams so your multiplayer hopes will be answered. The ‘new direction’ that Banjo is taking should offer a multiplayer experience unique to anything currently available.”
It seems like Rare is taking Banjo in a bit of a new direction, although as they stated, it is a huge gamble at that. Rare’s track record hasn’t exactly been stellar at the moment, but perhaps it is a good thing that they are changing a few things up to make this forthcoming title more appealing. Obviously, an opinion can’t be formed until we see what these forthcoming changes actually entail, but we’ll await that reveal with baited breath.
