Xbox 360 16% Failure Rate

While it’s definitely down from the massive rates of failure at the launch of the console, Microsoft still has a sadly high number of breakdowns for their console that’s been on the market for over two years now. A heartening fact is that although this is four times as high a failure rate of what Microsoft predicted last year, it’s far less than the alarming failure rates some retailers were reporting. Only 60% of the failures were due to the ‘Red Ring of Death’ and the rest were due to disk read errors, power on/off problems, disk tray issues, hardware freezes and damaged video cards according to warranty company Square Trade. By contrast the PS3 has a mere 3% failure rate.
