Rumor: 360 Blu-ray Add-on In The Pipeline

Everything is fully in place for the format war to come to a close. All the pieces are in place and we just have to sit back patiently to wait for Toshiba to finally announce the inevitable, that they will be dropping the format. While that is probably still a week or so away, Microsoft already is rumored to have a full Blu-ray Add-on for the 360 completed and ready to be produced as early as this May for release. Obviously it didn’t take a genius to see this one coming, so it isn’t surprising that Microsoft wouldn’t take the precautions to set such motions into place right away.
So far, Microsoft hasn’t said too much on the subject, other than to point out that they haven’t heard anything from Toshiba and will still support them until such a time, although they certainly do not rule out the possibility of a Blu-ray add-on being ready. Microsoft is naturally still banking a lot of their game plan on digital distribution, but they certainly would be unwise to not take the opportunity to release a Blu-ray player, which many users scorned by the loss of HD DVD would surely take advantage of.
