Wii Fit, WiiWare Coming in May

With the success of downloadable games on both the Wii’s Virtual Console service and Xbox Live Arcade, it was only a matter of time before we’d see something about original games being made and distributed by the Wii. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is planning to launch a channel for these original games called “WiiWare” on May 12th. Of course you can expect some offerings from Nintendo and its own development studios, but other companies can get in on the act without any approval from Nintendo. The only criteria is that the games will have to be submitted to a ratings board. The Wii Fit will be following soon after on the 19th and if its sales in Japan are anything to go by, you’d better pre-order your copy as soon as it’s available.
