Valve’s Accidental Announcement No Surprise

Sometimes there’s just something that’s so popular and so cried for by fans that when a company comes out with a big announcement most of the people in the video game world just shrug and say “well, we’re glad it’s official but we all saw it coming.” The long-awaited announcement of Starcraft II didn’t shock me in the least. What did surprise me about it was they went so long without making a sequel. Portal co-designer Kim Swift goofed up in an interview with G4 and let slip the completely unshocking news that there’s a sequel to the unusual puzzle game in the works. With the undisputed darling of the Orange Box spawning parodies and tributes across the internet, it’s no surprise that they’ll be creating a sequel.

They’ll be selling a special edition collectors disc that allows you to play the entire first game with the word ‘cake’ replaced by ‘pie’. This is the way the devs wanted the game to be played, because the ‘pie is a lie’ is more poetic, but Valve’s census showed most players enjoyed cake over pie.
