HD-DVD Add-On Price Cut
![]()
The format war is over. Blu-ray stands atop a pile of shattered HD-DVD discs proudly waving the Sony flag while Toshiba’s banner lies in tatters, ground into the mud beneath the feet of thousands of triumphantly marching PS3s. Microsoft is slinking away from the battlefield, saddened that its chosen champion has failed, but the salve to its battered ego is the knowledge that this is only a temporary loss. While they work on a Blu-ray add-on (or at least while they let a decent enough length of time pass that it doesn’t seem like they’d had one ready the whole time) they’re cutting their losses– by slashing the prices of the HD-DVD add-ons in half. They’re now only a quarter of the original price at a mere $49.99. While it’s doubtful many people will spring on this offer, there are likely to be a few bargain hunters who’ll pick up one and wait for all the stores to put out bargain bins of HD-DVDs.
