logo_valve1.jpgValve is one of the developers that has been slow at adapting to consoles. However, they have managed to fill the gap with Half-Life 2 on the Xbox as well as The Orange Box on both Xbox 360 and PS3 late last year. Speaking at GDC, Valve’s Doug Lombardi, however, confirmed that the company does not plan on releasing Left 4 Dead on the PS3 anytime soon.

“EA wanted to do Orange Box on PS3 and they handled it,” he said. “Left 4 Dead isn’t coming out on PS3 because we’ve not had that call. If the phone rang we would have the conversation, certainly, but it hasn’t happened.”

What is more interesting, though, is the fact that the studio is looking into developing for a particular console no one thought they would work on: the Wii! “If Valve were to develop in-house for another format, it would be the Wii,” revealed Lombardi. “It’s growing, there’s already a huge user-base, and it’s fun. Source is really scaleable. We can do that.”

Note the word “can” and the absence of “will”. Still, it’s good news for Wii owners.
