Infogrames Ready To Buy Atari
March 8th, 2008 by Brian Lockhart in Business, News
Atari really needs to undergo a huge overhaul, and it looks like all the right steps are being put in place to bail the company out. Phil Harrison has stepped into position over at Infogrames, and as the majority shareholder in Atari, Infogrames has extended an offer to purchase the company. The deal has been sent out into a cooperate letter to Atari execs, and they are currently in consideration of the offer. Nothing is yet official, but the offer would push Infogrames to buyout the remaining stocks at 1.68 a share, certainly not the 2 billion EA wants to dish out for Taketwo. This buyout would represent another in an extremely huge line of developer purchases, as we appear to be moving towards head studios similar to the current Hollywood setup, rather than many small developers.
