First Shots of Wahlberg as “Max Payne”

March 10th, 2008 Posted in Action, News, PC by Will Prusik

When it comes to film adaptations of video games, sci-fi action adventures are often some of the most popular. Even the ill-fated ”Super Mario Bros.”took a rather fun, lighthearted game and turned it into a strange cyberpunk-esque adventure. It always seems a little strange when a director or studio decides to take a title whose appeal was mostly due to the style of gameplay and turn it into a film. Such is the case with Max Payne, one of the next video game movies we’ll be seeing. Mark Wahlberg is going to be portraying the cop out for vengeance and a few shots of him in character have hit the internet. There’s not much to really be said, as since it’s essentially just an action film he’s looking fairly normal, just clad in a black leather jacket. That being said, it’s hard to say how the film will hope to deliver, considering that the ‘bullet time’ style the game pioneered (as far as video games were concerned at least) has been in the Hollywood arsenal for some time now. Nobody’s expecting an Oscar though, so we’ll just hope for a quality popcorn action flick.
