1942 Remake Heading to XBLA, PSN
Capcom, who is paying extra attention to digital download games, has announced 1942: Joint Strike, a remake of the classic top-down arcade shooter. It will be available this Summer on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
The reimagining takes inspiration and influence from the ’80s title, taking cues from the original art, sound and gameplay, but standing on its own. Gameplay will resemble the 2D game, but will utilize a fully 3D engine. All stages, vehicles and weapons will have the look and feel of WWII with some stylistic differences. There will also be co-op “joint strike attacks” that combine the powers of two aircrafts.
It is in development at Backbone Entertainment and will feature a brand new score created by Norihiko Hibino, an international composer well-known for his work on the Metal Gear series.
