Gamers sure do love music! This has been proven by over six million downloads of songs from Xbox Live and PlayStation Network for Rock Band, which launched last November to much fanfare. New tracks are added every week for the game, with each track being sold for $2 or as a pack of three for $5.50.

“The success of Rock Band downloadable content to date firmly reinforces our vision and its potential as a platform for music discovery,” said MTV Games senior VP Paul DeGooyer.

The company hopes to continue its weekly release of downloadable content throughout 2008, with full albums in the pipeline, including work from The Who and Metallica.
