Dead Space Gets Animated Prequel

Building up further hype for the game, EA and Starz Media today announced the development of an animated movie prequel for Dead Space, the upcoming survival horror action game set in space. They also revealed that two other EA franchises are also getting the animated treatment.

The script for the prequel picks up where the plot of the comic book series will end, leading up to the beginning of the game. The story is focused on the events aboard a futuristic mining spaceship, the USG Ishimura, where a mysterious artifact from a dig site triggers the sudden invasion of a long-dormant alien presence.

Apparently, Starz Media is currently in talks with distributors worldwide to have the prequel aired, which is scheduled to be released via broadcast TV and then on DVD. No release date was offered.
