Following up on word that weapons can be purchased separately in Battlefield: Bad Company, Shacknews spoke with EA who has clarified reports of the pay-to-play weaponry in the game.

A representative of the company explained that some of the weapons would be made available as part of pre-launch promotional programs. The company will release five unique weapons free of charge through five different promotions before the launch of the game; they will also be available to players after the launch in case anyone missed them.

Another five weapons will be made available to those who purchase the Gold edition of the game, which will be released alongside the standard version this June. These weapons will be made available to non-Gold users at a “small individualized price per item,” according to the representative.
