Developed by Petroglyph, Universe at War: Earth Assault is now shipping to retailers nationwide. Described as a combat-intensive RTS, UaW:EA will set players in the near future in an epic battle against extra terrestrials in an attempt to save all that is humankind.

Whats really cool about this game, though, is that it supports cross platform play. Meaning that someone on an Xbox 360 could play in a game with someone on a PC, showing that this game could possibly pave the road for games to come.

Just imagine playing Team Fortress 2 on your Xbox 360 with your friend on his PS3. Yeah, like that’ll happen but we can always hope.

Universe at War: Earth Assault will retail for the usual $59.95.
