yakuza2

After the first game saw poor sales in Europe and North America, Sega did not bring out the sequel. But now that the second sequel is in the works for the PS3, Sega has decided to take a risk in bringing out Yakuza 2 for the PS2 in Europe. The sequel to the critically acclaimed title features enhanced combat, larger environments and a storyline that picks up a year after Yakuza ended. Here’s the scoop:

Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of the first Yakuza, is named Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan but unexpectedly retires from life in the clan the same day. However, his personally chosen successor is assassinated by a former allied gang called the Omi. These events set in motion an engrossing storyline that sees Kazuma travelling through Japan, on what could be the last opportunity to stave off an all-out war between the Tojo and Omi clans.

Yakuza 2 will be available exclusively for the PS2. No exact release date was offered, though the game is marked for release in 2008.
