Banking heavily on the MotoGP franchise, Capcom has confirmed that it has secured exclusive worldwide rights to publish games and create peripherals based on the premier motorcycle racing championship through 2012. This exclusive four year license covers all console formats, including the PlayStation and Nintendo families as well as PC and Xbox 360.
As part of the agreement, Capcom plans on publishing titles based on the 2008 MotoGP season for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC and PS2, plus versions for mobile handsets.
“We are very excited to have signed this long term agreement with Dorna Sports, which for the first time grants one publisher worldwide multi-platform rights to the adrenaline fuelled world of MotoGP,” said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom’s consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe. “We feel this move to a single publisher will greatly benefit our ability to develop titles that deliver more authenticity and excitement to the consumer.”
