EA Cuts Back On PC’s, Madden 2009 Cancelled

April 2nd, 2008 Posted in News, PC

So what exactly has Peter Moore been up to since his move to EA? I would like to imagine he is really on a secret mission sent by Microsoft in order to throw a wrench into EA’s plans for other consoles. But so far, the only system that seems to be suffering at the hands of EA is the PC, something Microsoft still seems to be making large efforts towards.

Peter Moore on his official blog had some comments about the 20th anniversary of Madden, but also some sad news for the few football fans that got their madden fix on the PC, this is your final year. Madden may be on the way out, but Peter confirms what we already knew, the PC isn’t the best platform for EA at the moment, and as such they’ve had to make some cuts.

“We knew that our decision to not develop this year’s Madden for the PC would be an unpopular decision in some circles. But I’ll reiterate what I said a couple of weeks ago in this space…the PC presents some very serious business challenges to us in the sports category, particularly because so many of you all are playing your favorite sports games on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. We are committed to shipping a limited number of our games on the PC this year, but we’ve also had to cut a few of our games from the platform. We do have ideas for how to revitalize the PC for sports games and the types of games that are best suited to the platform, and we’ll continue to explore those.”
