RIP: Sixaxis November 2006-April 2008

Looks like we could barely get our the news on the looming DualShock 3 release and Sony has gone and stabbed poor and often disliked Sixaxis in the back. The Sixaxis controller, although certainly not shockingly, has been completely discontinued to promote the new DualShock 3 controller, and more or less guarantee only the early adopters will be stuck with the inferior controller option.

The Sixaxis will likely continue to slowly drain from retailers into the summer, when no stock will no longer available. Likely you might even be able to catch a few good deals on the discontinued hardware, if rumble just isn’t your think. Or you can always get one to put on the shelf next to your powerglove, virtuaboy and 60Gb PS3. At least they ditched their original controller concept, or I can certainly bet you Sixaxis would have been nowhere as long lived.
