Sega Officially Announces Sonic Unleashed

It may have taken them a little while since leaked footage and images of the game spoiled the “surprise”, but Sega has taken the time to officially announce upcoming Sonic Unleashed, with a few more sparse details than what we already knew. The game will be releasing on all four current consoles, including the Playstation 2. It will be released sometime this holiday season.

The game is being developed by the Sonic team at Sega (who else?) and will blend both 2D and 3D elements, hopefully taking the game a bit closer to its roots. Although this is a promise we are already well familiar with, and we are still waiting for the next “real” Sonic game. Just to prove that point, they also let it slip that the title will feature combat fighting of some sort. You can now let out your collective groan and return to your regularly scheduled business.
