Volition: PS3 Has Better Graphics Than Xbox 360
The bitter war between fanboys of PS3 and Xbox 360 has been raging on for quite some time now, and to add fuel to the fire, a Volition developer has gone on record to say that the “PS3 has the potential to achieve better graphics than the Xbox 360.”
This was stated to Videogamer.com at THQ’s Gamers Day in California this week. Jeff Carroll, associate producer in charge of upcoming action-game Red Faction: Guerilla, has said that although developers begin by struggling with the PS3 at first, they will eventually “figure it out” and find a “very powerful system underneath.”
So, would it mean any difference between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Red Faction? He replied: “We’ve got the PS3 running at a similar frame rate to the 360. We’re finding some of the challenges of the PS3 beneficial. We feel like we’re doing rather well with the PS3.”
Carroll added that the game is “very much” pushing the PS3, both in terms of “memory and processing power.” Red Faction: Guerilla is due out on the aforementioned consoles sometime in 2009.

For all those who dont know crap PS3 does have capabilty to produce better graphics than the Xbox 360 i will tell you why, but the doosh bag who suggested that the elite version of xbox has a better graphics card you are mistaken. the only thing that makes the diferrence between the normal xbox and the elite is that the elite graphics card has the support of HDMI which does not make the graphics better dumb ass it is just a newer port which they made avalible. the graphics card in PS3 (RSX) may be of a bit older architecture but that does not change anything it still is a more powerful graphics card. the core clock of the graphics card is 550 mhz the Xbox 360’s Xenons graphics card is 500mhz. PS3 GPU faster. the number of calculations per second PS3 1.8 terraflops xbox whole system including GPU and CPU 1 terra flop. PS3 agaiin better. RAM available to the GPU’s PS3- 256MB DDR3 RAM clock 700mhz dedicated and also 256 MB XBR RAM core clock 3.2GHZ shared between the cpu and GPU xbox has 256mb ddr3 clock whith ddr capable of 1.4GHZ (ALL OF XBOX’s RAM shared NONE DEDICATED. PS3 Better RAM. Transistors of the graphics cardsboth xbox 232 Million PS3 300 million . highest resolution for them PS3 1920*1080 Porgressive or 1080P in games 1080P upscaled only on movies 720P in games Max. PS3 Graphics card is supirior by a fair bit so SO SUCK ON IT XBOX 360 FANBOYS

i call BULLSHIT HERE, fyi xbox 360 has 512MB of RAM and the GPU also at 512MB where as PS3 only has 256MB both ram and GPU, and xenos has 332 million transistors (not 232) and the RSX is only at 300M and the xbox 360s xenos has 48 pipelines while RSX only has 24, also xbox has like 5x more system bandwidth than the PS3. XBOX 360 GPU is clearly better SO SUCK ON IT PS3 FANBOYS

PS3 Graphics card can use as much ram as Xbox. ive played on both consoles and i’ll say that xbox 360 performs better when it comes to visual detail and loading times and obviously smooth gameplay… the ps3 pushes pixels like mental but the slight lagg does get irratable during gameplay’ besides that it can do much more then play games (xvid files/mp3s/pictures/…Etc) plug up any storage device … not to mention its bleeding frre to play online games

Now back to that point of PC gaming (bad converstions from consoles sets us pc owners back) but comapring Bandwidth ( c’mon! need i say more loool 1 tera data tranfer rates GDDR4 … dual to quadcores cpus … ok thats enough

I own both, and i disagree wid R3ap3R, Ps3 has way smoother gameplay for most part and betterh load times, the 360 didnt get a graphics card hardware change, just an update, it just got a HDMI port added and slightly improved graphics to 1080p, which is what the Ps3 can run at from its original console. LOL, they both have great graphics, barely noticeable difference, ive onli noticed a difference wif water which the xbox360 seems to perform betterh wif, PS3 and 360 are both great thou, dont regret purchasing either

PS3 Has a blue ray player. Graphics on PS3 best, next Wii, then Xbox .
The Xbox has a darker background and darker contrast. The playstation is lighter, but you can see detail in the backgounds and xbox darkens and obscures smaller figures and details. People that like darker colors and redder faces on tvs will like xbox or darker and brighter than natural color. People who like clarity and realistic color will like PS3. You get free online with playstation and have to pay for xbox which has online and netflix which is a plus. Here playstation is a little behind. Playstation suffers from backward compatibilty on games. Regular PCs are best but, I dont like using a keyboard, mouse, and driver conflicts. PS3 for me but xbox is better for online gamers and netflix users. Wish ps3 had netflix.

haha it is soooo obvious how much better the playstation is. Sony has way more and better exclusives coming out just in year 2009. Even when ps3 first started i had to say there was more of a variety of games to choose from then getting bored of all the fps. Xbox like to stay to much in their comfort zone and just produce the same types of games. like halo and gears is the only good games hte xbox has and to be honest halo 1 was the only good one. Sony has always liked to push its limits and produce different things. I will never be bored or never choose to go to the xshit over the ps3. wow ur a dumb fuck piece of shit. yeah alot i know but thats not the point. the point is you know nothing. the 360 has better power for deliverng better graphics than the ps3. heres something from an actual producer of every major console.
Graphics: The XBOX 360 is a clear winner. The GPU is more powerful. It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower. Part of the reason is their choice of memory, and architecture of pixel and vertex procesing. I can�t get into details but the same vertex shader will run much slower on the PS3 than the XBOX 360. The 360 also has a clever new way rendering high definition anti aliased back buffers. To accomplish the same effect on PS3 is prohibitively expensive. For this reason I think many games will have no choice but to run in non-HD resolutions on the PS3 version, use a lower quality anti aliasing technique, or do back buffer upscaling. The end result in all cases is going to be noticeably worse image quality.

Oh sure, except for the fact that LBP outscored all 360 exclusives on metacritic and MGS4 got a 10/10 on both IGN and Gamespot (something no 360 exclusive ever got), and considering that Uncharted, inFamous, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, etc. got good scores, take your bullshit elsewhere. FF Versus XIII isn’t coming to 360…at least, it hasn’t been announced for 360 yet. Agent, a game by Rockstar North (GTA devs), is coming exclusively to PS3. Games go by personal preference, not what a dumbass 360 fanboy like you thinks. Oh and The Last Guardian’s predecessors got great scores, and it can’t go multiplat since Team ICO is a first party studio under Sony.
And the argument about looking and playing better: We’re in 2009. That argument no longer applies. Your head is locked in 2006-2007. Get with the times. Why else would Volition say the 360’s memory is at its peak with RFG? Why would Infinity Ward say the 360’s being pushed to its upper limits with Modern Warfare 2? Why would Tecmo say the PS3 hardware is the most powerful? Or do you know more than the devs do? lol. The PS3’s architecture is complex, that’s why devs don’t know how to optimize properly yet. Wait for the PS3’s full potential to be realized before you fanboys judge.
And last but not least, especially in this generation, it’s about personal preference. It’s NOT a fact that 360 is better than PS3 or the other way around. Last gen, most people would agree that the PS2 was the best, but again, it’s fine to disagree. Oh, and by the way, I’m not a PS3 fanboy (notice how I didn’t bash the 360?). Sure my preferred console is the PS3 (just my opinion), but I like all 3 consoles and I wish people would open their fucking eyes and see the good side of all consoles, rather than blindly making up shit about other consoles just to make their’s look good.
