Rock Band Hits A High Priced Note In Europe

April 8th, 2008 Posted in Business, Hardware, News, Xbox 360

Europeans gamers are pretty used to being screwed over. They are all too familiar with region based delays for their games, many publisher simply chalk it up to localization issues. But while game delays can often be accused, overpricing hardware cannot.

We know Rock Band will finally release in Europe on May 23rd, we even know for some reason EA has made the game a timed exclusive, but what we had not heard was just how much of a pricing difference would exist.

The game will not be bundled together with any instruments. You can buy an instrument three pack of guitar, drums and microphone for a total of GBP 129.99 / EUR 169, and then you’ll have to pay for the game separately at GBP 49.99 / EUR 69.99. All told, the game will cost over doubled the US price of 170 USD. Not to mention many retailers have already offered specials here to entice games to pick up copies. It seems harsh, but EA is banking people will suck it up and pay the high price of entrance.
