Marvel’s Promotional Efforts

Not too long ago I wrote a little post about Marvel’s concern for the release weekend of the upcoming ‘Iron Man’ film due to its following on the heels of GTAIV’s release. Spend five minutes reading any gaming website or forum and there’s no doubt a whole lot of people are looking forward to the game and will probably spend as much time as possible playing it as soon as they get it. This made Marvel nervous due to the overlap between comic book movie fans and video game fans. In my daily cruise for news I stumbled upon something interesting on IGN’s website. It seems their GTAIV launch center is being officially sponsored by the Iron Man film. I suppose it’s not a bad policy: if you can’t beat them, at least beat them in the face with your advertising.
