‘Famulator’ Makes Retro Gaming Easier

April 16th, 2008 Posted in Hardware, News, Wii by Will Prusik

With every advance in technology there’s always a group that for whatever reason clings to the previous iteration of a device or tool. To this day some music lovers tout the virtues of vinyl records, eschewing digital downloads and CDs alike. Many gamers still cling to the simple pleasures of NES, Sega Master System and other old systems. It’s not quite the same though when playing on a computer via an emulator or on the Wii through the Virtual Console. Nothing brings back the original feel like a simple, square controller in your hands and an eight-bit picture on the screen in front of you. Several companies in Japan have started creating emulator consoles that’ll work with your original NES or Famicom cartridges. One of the biggest is the Famulator from Cyber Gadget. At a reasonably priced 2980 yen, it might be far cheaper and easier to find than an original NES if you’re a retro junkie.
