Take Two Expects GTA 4 to Bring in $400m Sales in First Week

We all know that Grand Theft Auto IV will sell big, and I mean BIG, upon release. But just how big? If the words of Variety are to be believed, publisher Take-Two Interactive expects the title to achieve $400 million in sales during its first week at retail.

The company further believes that it will sell over six million units of the game. This can be expected, as the game is launching on two platforms and will be released worldwide.

Such a performance would topple Halo 3 from the top spot of the record books, as the first-person shooter raked in over $300 million in sales during its first week. In fact, Hollywood blamed the game for poor ticket sales, with many predicting a similar fate for the films hitting theaters after GTA 4.

GTA 4 will be out on PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 29.
