ps3_front_main Sony has officially announced that it has sold over 12.85 million units of the PlayStation 3 worldwide since its 2006 debut. This figure comes from the company’s 2007 fiscal year results, which concluded on March 31, 2008.

In its 2007 fiscal year, Sony’s game division had operating revenue of $12.83 billion and posted a $1.24 billion loss. The company also sold 13.73 million PS2 units, 13.89 million PSP units and 9.24 million units during this time.

According to figures released by both Nintendo and Microsoft, Sony is still in third place, though their figure is quite impressive seeing as how the PS3 launched a year after the Xbox 360. The Wii is currently standing at first place with 24.45 million, followed by Xbox 360 at 19 million.
