ageofconan4 Having only announced that player interest in the game was increasing, Age of Conan developer Funcom sent out word that it had been “sold out” of English-language early access slots for the MMO. It was offered as a pre-order incentive, allowing advance customers to access the game early and get a head start on the regular players a full three days before its debut on May 20.

“We knew that a specific number of players would be willing to take the offer and get 3 days earlier access to the game,” reads a post on the company’s forum. “That the registrations would reach that set limit as fast as they did we didn’t quite expect.”

The limit was given due to the fact that advance players need to download the entire game client instead of installing it from the retail DVD, which won’t ship out to them until next Tuesday. If they allowed more players in, it would cause much strain on their download servers.
