Rockband Faces More Opposition from Konami’s Rock Revolution

May 15th, 2008 Posted in Music, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360 by Jeff Baker

If it didn’t anger you enough that Guitar Hero IV was straying from it’s guitar-laden roots cough copying Rockband cough by adding support for new instruments like drums and vocals, listen to this.

Konami has announced Rock Revolution, a Rockband like game complete with drumset featuring a full 6 pads and a pedal. Wow, they are really pushing the envelope with this one, imagine the cost.

Along with the 6 padded drum set, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Rock Revolution will have 40 playable songs, with DLC planned, several online modes including co-op and versus, and last but not least a unique “Jam Session” that allows players to record their own songs.

The Wii version on the other hand will allow players to jam out air guitar style using the Wiimote and nunchuck while DS owners will get to exhibit their vocals using the built in microphone.

While people are sure to moan at the thought of yet another band simulation game on the scene, you have to keep in thought that Konami are the masters of the music genre with games like Guitar Freaks and DDR hitting the scene long before Guitar Hero and even longer before Rockband.
