It is no secret that the PS3 is a powerful machine and that developers have to learn how to optimize their games for it to get the best out of it. Nigel Kershaw, director on the upcoming MotorStorm sequel, chimed in on the notion, saying that they have “just scratched the surface of what we could actually do with the machine.”
“Now we’ve spent a lot of time with it we’re starting to make it sing under the hood,” he said. “Actually the first and second generation of games that we’ve seen on the PS3 is just people starting to learn how to make great games for it. It’s a long race. Now that developers are starting to write their second or third game, they’re starting to tap the power that’s within there.”
He also added that they have only begun to “scratch the surface” of the PS3, noting that they will learn a lot more from MotorStorm Pacific Rift. The game is due out later this year exclusive to the PS3.
