MGS4 Not the End of the Series

The Metal Gear Solid franchise has been one of the long running and successful franchises in the history of gaming. However, that may have had come to an end according to the words of Hideo Kojima, series creator, who said there would be no more games after the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4. As it stands, Guns of the Patriots won’t be the series’ last game – speaking to MTV Multiplayer, MGS4 producer Ryan Penton has revealed that there may be other games in the future, but that they may not feature “Solid Snake” as a character.
“I think there’s been some misconceptions that this is the last ‘Metal Gear,’” he said. “This is really just the last chapter of the saga of the Solid Snake story.” He continued, saying that MGS4 will tie up all the loose ends and will mean the end of Solid Snake.
“[Solid Snake] was a burden [for Kojima] because of all those loose ends,” said Payton. “So when you play Metal Gear Solid 4 and when you get to the end, I think you’re going to feel that ‘wow, this is a nice closure.’ All of the weird stuff that’s gone on in the past, it’s all coming to an end. All those weird questions — everything is answered.”
What is in the future is the upcoming MGS4 title, which is sure to get perfect review scores and sell millions of copies. After that, nothing is certain at this point in time.
