Postal Going Blu-ray

Everyone loves an excellently crafted film. Regardless of their genre, films like Casablanca, Schindlers List, The Princess Bride and many others keep getting viewers years after their release. For years though there’s always been a film counter-culture. The people who like terrible movies. Blockbuster has rows of terrible horror films lining their shelves, catering to this low-budget-loving crowd. I myself have indulged in this guilty pleasure from time to time, most recently having viewed Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter a few weeks ago..

There’s one man however who hasn’t even achieved that level of cult status: Uwe Boll. Notorious amongst gamers, his most recent gambit hasn’t even shot itself in the foot. It amputated all of its own limbs and gave itself a frontal lobotomy even before the race began. Boll’s newest film, Postal, based off the video games of the same name has stirred up so much controversy that it’ll only be debuting in four theaters around the country. If you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere chances are you’ll never see it. Even more than with his previous releases, Postal will rely on DVD sales for its profitability.

A newcomer to the DVD distribution market, UMVD Visual Entertainment, will be releasing Boll’s newest film on both DVD and Blu-ray alike. If you’re one of those counter-culture types who love poorly made films, check it out. It’s likely to be the least terrible of Boll’s adaptations as the entire story of the Postal games is rather light on details.
