xbox-live-arcade1 Xbox Live Arcade is great for finding small games which you can pick up and play at any time, alongside remakes of retro titles. However, the service has been much criticized by developers because of the 150MB limit that is imposed for games.

David Edery, Xbox Live Arcade planner, has said that Microsoft is considering increasing the file size limit for downloadable titles on the platform to a much higher size than 150MB; it is rumored to hit 350MB if the upgrade goes through. He notes that the limit is meant to maintain the platform’s focus on smaller, more accessible experiences.

“It’s a steady progress. We’ve been listening to our partners, listening to our customers to try and get a feel for what’s right,” he told Gamesindustry. “We don’t want the size limit to hit the roof because we think there’s some value in promoting small pick and play experiences that don’t cost USD 20 million, it’s good for the ecosystem.”

No release date was announced for the file size limit being increased.
