Valve has so far release two major updates for Team Fortress 2 on the PC, though these patches aren’t available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. That may change soon, as Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi, speaking to Shacknews, addressed the state of downloadable content on consoles, saying that they’re looking at bringing the Goldrush and the new achievements to the Xbox 360. It has to be noted that Valve developed the Xbox 360 version internally while the PS3 version was outsourced to EA UK.
“How and when is still sort of being determined, on pricing and that kind of stuff,” he said. “On the PC it’s sort of wide open, you can release stuff whenever you want. On the console there’s a little bit more of a pathway.”
Lombardi also added that they want to release a “critical mass of new content” at once and has been waiting for it to happen, though they will probably be making some announcements pretty soon. PS3 gamers may be out of luck, as he does not offer any definite word for the PS3 version.
